And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching

and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2:42

Life Group

We believe that finding a place of community and belonging is critical to our Christian life. The Christian life is designed to be lived in community where we encourage, pray for, connect with, love and even correct each other. Jesus and the early church modeled this method of making disciples in the context of small groups of people intentionally living life together in community. We believe that this model is still the best model for the 21st century. Our hope and desire is that Woodland Hills would be a community of friends engaged in gospel-centered relationships resembling the early church (Acts 2:42-47). That simply doesn't happen in the context of a large worship service. That's why we all need a Life Group!

Please let us know if you are interested in joining a Life Group.

FAQs

What's the purpose of Life Groups?

Through Life Groups, we hope to recapture the essence of the early church we read about in the book of Acts, where followers of Christ loved God and each other with amazing passion, lived in community with each other and impacted the world around them in astounding ways. In short, the purpose is to give you a place to belong and to grow.

Can I be in a Life Group without being a member at WHC?

Absolutely! Life Groups are open to all.

What do we do with our kids during our Life Group meeting?

If your kids are old enough and you'd like to include them in your meeting, you can. If your group has younger kids, the group can hire a baby-sitter and the church will reimburse the group for this expense.

How often will my Life Group meet?

We encourage all of our Life Groups to meet once a week. There are exceptions, but since our goal is to "live life" together, it is essential that groups meet on a weekly basis (there will be breaks throughout the year though!).

Is there a designated place to jump off if I don't like the Life Group I'm in?

Actually there is. There will be four 10-week sessions per year. If after a 10-week session, you wish to try another group, we encourage you to do so. We want you to find the Life Group that feels like "home" to you, and realize it may take trying more than one to find your fit in a community.

Will I be forced to talk about personal things in my life that I'm not comfortable talking about?

You can rest in knowing that no one will be forced to do anything. Our hope and prayer is that as relationships and trust grows, people will naturally open up their lives to others and live a transparent life with each other. Our Sunday morning on campus Life Groups will be studying various topics and books of the Bible. Our off campus groups will be doing what we call sermon based discussions.

Would it be okay to invite some of my friends to Life Group?

Most definitely, yes! We encourage you to invite your friends, neighbors and relatives to experience the Christian community you are a part of.

How do I get plugged in to a Life Group?

We have a list of groups that are currently meeting. We have some on campus Life Groups that meet on Sunday mornings before church. We also have off campus Life Groups that meet through out the week. You can find that list at the Guest Services, just outside of the Worship Center. Anyone on the staff would be thrilled to help you get plugged into one of our Life Groups.
